Sulfates and silicones: why On The Wild Side avoids them
On The Wild Side
On The Wild Side avoids sulfates and silicones in favor of gentle plant-based surfactants and vegetable oils that nourish without creating residue.
Sulfates and silicones are among the most debated ingredients in cosmetics. At On The Wild Side, we avoid them — for both face and hair — in favor of effective plant-based alternatives.
Sulfates: sometimes too aggressive a cleanse
Sulfates (SLS) sometimes cleanse too effectively: they disrupt the hydrolipidic film. Our face cleansers and Daily Shampoo rely on gentle plant-based surfactants.
Silicones: immediate shine, long-term residue
Silicones accumulate, weigh hair down, and mask a lack of nourishment. OTWS offers Hair Care Mask and Hair Care Oil without silicones.
Our alternatives by hair type
| Profile | OTWS Routine |
|---|---|
| Fine to normal hair | Daily Shampoo + Detangling Conditioner |
| Oily scalp / dandruff | Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo (1×/week) |
| Dry or textured hair | Hair Care Mask + Hair Care Oil |
- Face: Cleansing Jelly and Cleansing Oil without sulfates.
- Hair: hair care range without silicones.
How to spot sulfates and silicones on the INCI list?
Look for names ending in -cone, -siloxane, -silane (silicones) and SLS, SLES, sodium lauryl sulfate (sulfates). You won't find any of these at OTWS.
